However, the challenge still lies in the fact that people are not aware of these opportunities and car manufacturers still produce petroleum based vehicles. As the awareness grows, people will demand more of these biodiesel cars.  As more vehicles that run on biodiesel are produced, the more these algae farms can flourish.

Companies are quick to look into the possibility of becoming the next oil tycoon by cultivating and harvesting this tiny plants that is fortunately for all, extremely easy to culture and grow. Research are now on now looking into hundreds and thousands of algae species to find one that has the most potential to be cultivated to be turned into biodiesel of the future. So where do we turn to for a great source of biodiesel energy? What about the lowly algae?  They are rich in natural oil and possess the ability to grow in places where food crops won’t grow at all due to weather constraint and lack of resources.

Perhaps the hype surrounding algae fuel has been too much for most people to believe that humble algae holds the key to solve man’s impending problem of depleting fuel resources. But believe it or not, these lowly organisms possess more lipid or oil with high energy content storeed within them. Scientists are scouring the country and devoting endless hour to find the most feasible solution to end the world dependence on fossil based fuels. Let’s take a close look at the algae itself. Algae to biodiesel may seem like a very exciting option but there are some basic thins you need to know about algae to biodiesel before jump onto the bandwagon.

Algae is a colony of micro sized plants that are either unicellular or in some strains, they are multicellular as well. The large biomass of algae that is prevalent in many lakes an aquatic area has prompted scientists to explore the possibilities of using these as a source of biofuel energy.
