What's The Catch?
This is a first generation design. It doesn't
have a lot of bells and whistles. In fact, it has none. It
isn't "pretty." It's not sexy. But it does work. I'm using the
same design right now, for my own
experiments.
I'm talking about an in-home
TEST algae photobioreactor that
can...
-
Grow 10 different algae cultures at the same
time.
-
Measure and adjust, 10 different variables, at the
same time.
-
Measure and adjust 10 different levels of air/CO2
at the same time.
One of the big drawbacks of testing algae is you make one
change, stop, wait for sometimes days, to see if it has the
desired reaction. More times than not, it doesn’t, and it is
back to the drawing board. It is slow, tedious, pain-staking,
work. This PBR is designed to solve that
problem.
When I went looking for a algae
photobioreactor for my own studies, I saw similar
PBR’s selling for $10,000 -$20,000 USD or
more.
So I built one. This is a full scale, working, patent-pending
lab unit. The designs that came after, and in the (upcoming)
eBook, are much better, and more refined.
The
PBR presented
here meets various
criteria. Among other things
…
·
I
t is scalable and can be built in different
sizes
·
It
is
made easily, from materials at hand.
·
It is made using basic hand tools.
·
It is
inexpensive to reproduce.
·
It's functional, it works, and perform the job it is built
for.

In short, they are the real
deal.
This design presented in this “Sneak Preview” is a 10 cell
“batch” Algae Photo
bioreactor. This was developed to test different
strains of algae and/or 10 different variables, at the same
time.
The best part is, you can build
it yourself cheaply and
inexpensively
Advantages:
·
Easily built using readily available parts.
·
Easily test 10 different algal strains to determine which one
is best for
your situation.
·
Easily test 10 different nutrients and/or variables at once, to
see which one works best.
·
Easy to take apart and clean.
·
Can be built with normal household tools.
·
Can be built in 2-3 days.
·
Easy to maintain and repair
Disadvantages:
·
Harvesting is “clunky” and not fully
developed.
·
Many of the systems could be automated.
·
In order to keep the cost down, compromises were made in
quality materials, after all, this is a
prototype.
This is one small part, of a much larger work
called
“Making
Algae Photo Bioreactors at
Home.” currently in
production.
The complete manuscript will have many different sized
PBR’s,
-
small scale algae “incubators,”
-
to lab units,
-
to full sized, scalable, PBR’s
-
to “continuous” PBR’s for just about any algal
application.
It is, however, better than anything you can find anywhere on
the internet.
I hope you enjoy this “sneak preview” Simply fill out the

All the best
