Algae cosmetics and its extracts have a long history of being used as body wraps and baths.

One application that is worth considering from a business perspective in which widespread us of algae is in the manufacture of cosmetics. Algae are widely used in cosmetic preparations i.e. face wash, creams, lotions, shower gels, shampoos, soaps and body scrubs as they hydrate the skin and have a natural detoxification effect.
Minerals contained in algae restore skin balance and produce a calming effect. Mild exfoliation of the skin is also achieved by the use of algae products which leaves the skin soft and smooth.
It also rejuvenates the skin stimulating natural collagen formation.
Algae cosmetic extracts are rich in natural ingredients and therefore prevent damages caused by the use of synthetic chemicals.
Algae-based cosmetics contain all the required elements and protect the skin from damages by UV rays and environmental pollutants.
Laminaria species of algae produce highly effective moisture retaining substances which prevent drying of the plant. Extracts of Laminaria are used in the manufacture of skin care products to maintain firmer and smoother skin. It prevents excessive drying of the skin and has a moisturizing effect.
Vitamin A content in algae cosmetics help fight free radicals and stimulates a natural skin renewal process by encouraging skin cell regeneration. Antibacterial constituents of algae extracts maintain a clear complexion by ensuring proper skin cleansing. Skin is cleansed gently without stripping off the natural moisture.
